Discussion: • Fear that it would take up too much of the committee’s time • There are space issues, not enough halls to host conference in Brockville • There would be enough social activities within the City • Brockville is Ontario's oldest incorporated town • There is enough hotel space in the City • Idea to host in nearby cities as well as Brockville • An event coordinator would have to be hired and paid, Ida volunteered to coordinate the conference • Would require a lot of volunteers, which this City does have • Worry that people would offer help but not be there when needed • Could easily find speakers to come to Brockville • Questions about the perks of hosting, does it help Brockville? Attendees take information back to their own communities instead • Worry that the conference is too large for the City • In terms of cost, the City could only loan $5,000, to be paid back • Best to organize a smaller conference Motion passed, 5 in favor 2 against.
